How it works:
Once crops are gleaned, weigh what you are going to take, and make sure the number of pounds is recorded on the tracking sheet under 'Home kitchen'.
The remaining food will then be distributed to others in need.Other opportunities for extra food:
Weekend individual/family gleaningIf you are interested in gleaning for your own use during times when there are no emergency food providers open (weekends, possibly some evenings), or could use produce that is unsuitable for distribution (very ripe fruit, grapes, or apples that have insect damage, but could be used for cider, sauce, dehydrating, or jams) please let us know, so Barbara can contact you. For such weekend or evening gleans, you would need to bring your own containers for picking and taking produce home.
We need some volunteers who are willing to take responsibility at these gleans - for example, making sure people park in the designated parking area, the right crop is picked, and that all the produce is weighed and recorded. Scales or ladders may also need to be picked up and returned.
If you are already signed up, or need to sign up please contact Barbara 738-0690 and she will update your information so that you will be notified of these gleans.
